Abstract

The thesis examines the pedagogical effectiveness of game technologies in teaching foreign languages to primary school pupils. The purpose is to define how game-based activities can support motivation, vocabulary retention and elementary communication. The study is based on literature analysis, pedagogical modelling and classroom-oriented observation criteria. The main result is a compact model of game-based foreign language teaching for primary pupils. The thesis argues that a game becomes pedagogically effective only when it is connected with a clear language aim, age-appropriate rules and feedback.
