Abstract

This article addresses the formation and development of measurement skills in geometry lessons for students with visual impairments (blind and low-vision students). It analyzes the methodological foundations of using specialized tactile aids, raised-dot rulers, and adapted instructional materials, as well as their role in enriching the students spatial imagination. Vision serves as the primary channel for receiving information when mastering the exact sciences, particularly geometry. However, for students with limited vision, compensatory mechanisms—especially tactile perception—play a leading role in supplementing visual information. Traditional educational tools are insufficient for effectively forming geometric concepts (such as segment length, angles, perimeter, and area) and developing precise measurement skills. Therefore, improving the methodology for using specially adapted tactile aids is of vital importance.
