Abstract

Language serves not only as a means of communication but also as a powerful instrument of artistic expression. In literary discourse, especially in poetry, language acquires aesthetic, emotional, and symbolic dimensions through the use of
expressive devices. These stylistic elements enrich poetic language, intensify emotional impact, and enable poets to express profound philosophical ideas and cultural values in an artistic form. Uzbek poetry, which possesses a rich literary tradition extending from classical literature to modern poetic works, is distinguished by its extensive use of expressive devices that enhance both the artistic quality and semantic depth of poetic texts. This article explores the aesthetic and poetic role of expressive devices in Uzbek poetry by
analyzing their linguistic characteristics, artistic functions, and contribution to the creation of poetic imagery. The study focuses on lexical, syntactic, and phonetic stylistic devices, including metaphor, simile, personification, epithet, symbolism, repetition, hyperbole, and alliteration. The findings reveal that expressive devices function not merely as decorative linguistic elements but as fundamental mechanisms for constructing meaning, conveying emotions, preserving national identity, and strengthening readers' aesthetic perception. The research concludes that expressive devices remain indispensable components of Uzbek poetic language and continue to shape the artistic individuality of poets across different literary periods.
